Mark and i love performing in intimate venues, where the mood is relaxed and friendly, and where people mingle happily. Sadly, venues like this are rare, with one exception...home.
Home concerts are special. They're warm and happy, and they don't come around often enough. Whether we're tucked into the corner of the lounge-room or underneath the pergola, people can relax amongst friends and family, and and make a memorable time of it.
For the next 12 months, Mark and I would like to concentrate our performances in these wonderful places, starting with New South Wales (Australia). If you think you might like to host one of these events in your home just send me an email taniarose@taniarose.net and i'll send you more info on how it all works.
smiles to you :)

One of the hardest things about building a creative space, is having to wait to use it.
I've kinda put recording on hold until the new studio is finished...partly because my recording needs have outgrown my tiny, noisy make-shift studio, but also because i hardly have any space to record in now that the building is underway, as microphones and instruments are competing with building supplies for space.
It's just seems easier to wait...well, sometimes. But then, i just seem to be flooded with things which don't want to wait...ideas, opportunities, silly nonsense...it's enough to drive me crazy.
But with every nail i hammer, i tell myself it's one more nail closer...one more task complete, one less thing to do.
Now where did i leave that ladder?
Teaming up with MuscularTeeth (AKA Peter Grigoriadis), started off as a "hmm, let's see if we can work together". I'd never met MT, but really liked his attitude, his music, his art, and later his friendship. Now we're close to half way through our first collaborative recording project which we've loosely titled (for now a least) MuscularRose, a self-titled album of our partnership.
It's refreshing to work in a way i never have before. It's hugely exciting, and challenging in new ways, which stimulates my creative thinking in spontaneous bursts...something which suits where i'm at at the moment It's wonderful to be able to share the creative journey too, to be able to not only create to your own expectations, but also how you think the other person might respond...kinda like trying to pre-empt their approval. We do, after all, have half a continent which separates us, so it's a very remote way of working, and it takes quite a lot of planning to see each other face-to-face.
To top it all [...]

But as this is new, and i'm about to embark on lots of newness, maybe things will change

I always loved that title by Crowded House. It makes me think of constancy, the ever-present cycle, and what goes around comes around. So on my birthday, that ever cyclic event, which seems to often pass virtually unnoticed in my life, except to a few of those who are close in my life (and the odd generous fan)...i thought it fitting to express how simply magical the cycles of life are. The ebb and flow of a watery existence is perhaps easily seen by those with the sign of the fish swimming in two different directions. I don't know. perhaps its something we all seek, but i feel a strange and familiar comfort in the rhythm of it all. It suits me...and if i can harness it in my own expressive nature, perhaps i could express myself more in the world.who knows. So happy birthday to all Pisceans. May your waters be ever warm, and your oceans be clean and majestic, at every turn.smiles to you :)
